Kidnapped In São Paulo

5 more days until I leave the CTM, I've got mixed feelings about leaving. On one hand, I'm getting really bored of being locked inside everyday, but on the other hand I know no portuguese. But I think I'll probably learn a ton better being in the field.

This week again was really uneventful, on Monday our teacher Irmã Tavares stopped teaching us because she's going to Portugal. Which sucks because she was our only good teacher. Our other teacher Irmão Deviyd is such a cool dude but just doesn't care that much about his job, so we don't really learn anything.

Monday was a crazy day! When we started our night class, we started smelling this weird kinda gross smell. And a few minutes later there was like an alarm sound on the speakers and people speaking weird words in portuguese on the loudspeaker, which none of us could understand. Our teacher and his friend decided it would be funny to tell us that the building is on fire, I had no idea what was going on. It started smelling more and more like burning plastic or something. I've never been so confused in my life! I thought the building was burning, but at the same time I had no idea because I didn't speak portuguese. Turns out they were testing the speakers at the same time as something was being burnt right outside, and since the hallways are essentially outside you could smell it very strongly.

Today we left the CTM for the first time other than going to the temple, we went to the store. Everyone gave us really weird looks, I think mainly because we are a bunch of white guys speaking English in the middle of São Paulo, but only one person said something to us and no one had any clue what he said. Luckily our instructor was with us, apparently all he asked was if we had any coins. Which to me was weird because in the USA I feel like no one would ask me that.

Anyway, in my next email I'll be in my mission somewhere in Juiz de Fora!!!!! Love you all!

Not sure what order these pictures will be in, but one is my and my comp in front of the temple! And the other one is a picture of Mr. Clean but Brazil version. And the one of me holding a pilar my district thinks it looks like I'm kidnapped
