Milagres

Olá, pessoal!! Como vocês estão? (Fun fact: in portugese they have a word for you guys, vocês is like saying yous!)  This week was full of miricles! We were challenged by our mission president to invite 10 people to be baptized. At the beginning of the week thinking about 10 people was a lot, we didn't even have 10 people we were teaching. But, the Lord definitely is there to help when we do our part. I'll explain, we started the week out inviting everyone we were teaching to be baptized, which was 4 people. One already had a date for baptism so we didn't invite her, and then we weren't sure who else to invite. We thought maybe we would need to invite some people we meet in the street. But, then on Saturday, we went to work with a member here who is the age to be a missionary, we visited some less active people, and one brought us to her familiy who are not members. So when we were there we gave the lesson about the plan of salvation and invited all of them to be baptiz...

Stake Conference

Image
Olá pessoal!  Hope everyone had an amazing week! This week we had stake conference, we had a member of the 70 come and he gave a talk. It was really, really good -the guy is like 30, and the way he gave the talk felt more like a class than a talk! He called a few kids up, like left the pulpit for a little, it was so cool!  Thanks  This week was super fun, we visited a ton of less active people. Yesterday we went with a member to visit this lady named Catarina, she's 90 years old and has Alzheimer’s and  she is so funny! We helped her do some exercises, and shared a scripture with her! Hopefully we will go back there!  With having stake conference, church was in a different building, it was in the center of this city. And because the majority of people use buses to get around it makes it a little bit more complicated to have to go further to church. So this week sadly we couldn't go to people's houses and bring people to church. BUT, there was one lady named Rosâ...

Bota Fogo!!!

Image
Olá everyone! How yall doing?? This week was pretty interesting, it rained quite a bit here, which was definitly an experiance! We did a ton of walking around out area to get to know more of it and try and get new people to teach who live closer. But it was a little difficult becuase of the rain, so we ended up knocking on random members doors to see if they are active or not! Only one person opened thir door, and turns out there not active! But sadly they told us they aren't interested in returning :(  This week I made one of the biggest decisions in my mission, choosing a soccer team here to support. Their name is "Bota Fogo" which literally translates to put fire, or boot fire which ever you desire! And there here in Rio! But the only downside is there really bad, like really bad. When i tell people I like bota fogo, everyone always says "sinto muito" which is I feel alot. But I'm sticking strong!  This week with Rosangela, the woman I talked about last t...

3rd Transfer!! Still In Petropolis. 3rd Comp :)

Hello Family and Friends,   It’s been a good week here in Petropolis.  Last week we had transfers, so I’m no longer with my old companion, Elder Nacimiento.  Now I’m with Elder Murias.  He’s really cool.  He grew up in Recife, Brazil and then moved to Curritiba with his family before leaving on his mission.  With transfers and traveling, we haven’t really been able to do a ton this week.  I had to take a bus to Juiz de Fora for the transfers, which is several hours in the bus each way.  When we got back, it feels like all of our time has been on the bus.  We have lunches at members houses which is usually like a 30 minute bus ride, but there was a car show going on which slowed down the buses, so it was like 2 hours each way, so we really didn’t get a ton of work done.    We do have some good investigators that we’re teaching, but unfortunately, they all live pretty far away, so we’re constantly buying more bus tickets and spending ...
