Francisca

What's up!  These past few weeks have been pretty hectic! I don't remember exactly what's happened: it's been a blur! The recent convert, Francisca that I talked about last time got baptized! And then 2 hours later left for Italy for 2 months!! On Sunday she talked about how amazing church was in Italy, even though no one was able to speak Portuguese. She said it was pretty funny! And this week she's going to the temple in Rome!  Things are going pretty well out here with my new comp, he's pretty sick! We've been seeing some super cool miracles in our area!  This past week we were working quite a bit in a city next door that doesn't have any members.  One of  the ladies we've been teaching from there chose to be baptized! We've also found some super cool people!  This week one of the people I'm living with, who's Brazilian, made brownies. He wasn't really sure how to make them, so they turned out pretty bad. SO of course the other 3 o...

Transferências

Hey y'all! What's up, so this week was transfers! And also a week of miracles!  Let us start.  To begin with we finally were able to mark a date with this lady named Fransisca, which was a miracle because she's super strong in her church. When we first met her, which was like 4 months ago, she thought we were a cult. Over the weeks teaching her, she was able to slowly understand more about the Book of Mormon, and the prophet Joseph Smith. It was a very slow process, but through a lot of prayers and conference talks and debates, she now says with confidence that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that this is the true church of Jesus Christ here on earth! She will be baptized this Friday, and the coolest part is, it's just two days after she's going to Italy with her kids, and she's gonna go to the temple in Rome! She's already giving car rides to our other investigators who can't make it to church walking.  We made lunch for ourselves once this week, I made...

Hot Christmas

Olá todos!!    Hey, it's been a little while since I've written an email updating you guys on what's going on down here in Brasil!  Recently it's been hot, really hot. And rainy, really rainy. But, it's been really, really good on the mission! A few weeks ago we got to leave our mission and head out to the capital of the state here (Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais)  to watch a devotional by Elder Soares where he was on a zoom call with my mission and the mission next to us! It was so cool, especially because he served his mission where I'm serving now, so he loved telling stories about his mission! Fun coincidence, a family Elder Soares was talking about is in our current ward and we do a lot with them.  How cool to see the fruits of Elder Soares' efforts just a few years later!  We could all tell he was being brought back to his mission!!  Here in our area we've been grinding a ton to try and find more people to help! We've had a ton of miracles happen...

Book Of Mórmon Race

Hey everyone!  These past few weeks have been fast.  To start out this last week, on Tuesday, I was working with a different missionary in my area, and as we were walking around, we felt that we should knock some of the doors behind the chapel. So, as we were knocking we found some cool people, none that were super interested, until one of the last doors on the street. When we knocked on the door a man, around the age of 22, came out and started talking with us. We introduced ourselves and told him we have a message about Jesus Christ we would like to share with him and he let us in. When we were in we shared with him about the Book of Mormon, and invited him to read it. He really didn't seem that interested until we were about finished. We asked him if he had any doubts or any questions he wanted to ask, he told us that no, but two days before he was reading in the Bible, and read and felt that two angels would come to his house to help him!  This past week we also went ...

Space Invasion

Yo what's up peeps!  Starting things off, I'm getting transferred to an area in the mission pretty similar to a place in the US! It's a pretty sweet part of the mission because it's so far away from everything that you feel super secluded and free! It's a town called Varginha, a while ago the people in the town started claiming that they saw aliens. I'm not sure if aliens really came, but It's hard to deny because everything that can be space themed is. Which is where it is pretty similar to Roswell New Mexico!  And, they have donuts there that taste like American ones.  I'm actually super pumped to go there!  A few transferes ago I did splits there, and afterward always wanted to work there. It's a super small town called Minas Gerais, which means they have really weird accents, and any sound you make is a compliment.  I'm gonna be comps with another north American. This makes 8 transfers that I've had American comps and my Portuguese is fee...

Papai Noel

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been a little while since the last time I sent out an update on how everything is going! I'm still alive so that's a plus, kkkk! First of all this transfer I hit 6 months left on the mission, I'm not sure if I have already hit the day or not because really I'm not paying attention, but the time here on the mission passes so fast!!! Anyways, I'll let you guys know a little bit about what's going on here, two weeks ago at church we had our ward conference which was dope, Santa was there! (i'll explain) So basically what happened was that after the ward conference we had lunch in the chapel which was in the back part of the sacrament room, separated by a curtain. There were about 200 people there so it was pretty packed and super loud. When everyone finished eating, our Bishop, out of nowhere, announced that he had a surprise for everyone, no one had any idea what it could be. He asked everyone to count down from 10, when we got to 0...
