Look A Little Closer…

Bom dia pessoal!!!! This week was a little less crazy, we've been working hard trying to find new people who are ready to accept the gospel.  Here are a few miracles we've seen this week: 1. One day while we were knocking doors, we felt we should return to a door and knock it. When we did so, the lady opened up and told us to come in! She was super nice, it was her her daughter and her grandkids. As we started talking with her, she shared that her dad used to be an alcoholic, but then he found the church (through the missionários!) And his life changed, he became someone else. She shared how much that impacted her, and we marked a day to come back!! 2. We went for a return visit with this mom and daughter, it was the 2nd visit with the mom and the first for her daughter. While we were there we shared about the book of mórmon, and they were both thinking we were insane. So we gave them both a book, and read the promise it contains. When we did so we invited them to follow this p...

All I Know Is I'm Alive

So, as you can tell from the title of this email, this week's been a little crazy... To begin with, I started the week taking a trip alone to Juiz de Fora for a meeting with all the district leaders, which was awesome! While we were there, we had lunch at presidents house. The food he made was so American! It was tacos with doritos, AND they had guacamole, which is not very common here in Brasil, it was delicious!!!  This is where my week takes a turn, I got back on the bus, which is only like a 5 hour bus ride, but I'm all alone, there's probably like only 7 other people on the bus, but no other missionaries with me. Most of the ride was really chill, I slept alot, and just waited to get back. But the last 3 minutes of the ride were definitely the craziest, I got a call from another missionary who lives in the city where I was headed, and he asked me how far away I was. (This Elder is American, so we were speaking in English.) I told him I'm like 2 minutes away, and th...

Elder Landon “Duck” Jones

In writing my email this week, I was thinking about how I’d like to be more consistent at writing these, as it will be really cool after my mission to be able to look back on them for memories.  I’ll try to start writing an email every week… or maybe   I was transferred again!  This is my first week in my new area!  I was  in Sao Joao del Rei which was a beautiful city.  I was working with a branch there that had about 6 members at church each week.  now I’m in Congoyas.  This week we tried ot do a lot of finding.  Finding members.  Finding people who were already being taught.  Finding less actives.  I don’t know what’s going on, but a lot of our dots on the area book are terrible.  The addresses are wrong, so it’s been really hard this week.   The members who we’ve talked to have been super super cool and super helpful to us, so that’s helped a ton.   We’re teaching this one family.  The Dad in the family,...
