3rd Transfer!! Still In Petropolis. 3rd Comp :)
It’s been a good week here in Petropolis.
Last week we had transfers, so I’m no longer with my old companion, Elder Nacimiento. Now I’m with Elder Murias. He’s really cool. He grew up in Recife, Brazil and then moved to Curritiba with his family before leaving on his mission. With transfers and traveling, we haven’t really been able to do a ton this week. I had to take a bus to Juiz de Fora for the transfers, which is several hours in the bus each way. When we got back, it feels like all of our time has been on the bus. We have lunches at members houses which is usually like a 30 minute bus ride, but there was a car show going on which slowed down the buses, so it was like 2 hours each way, so we really didn’t get a ton of work done.
We do have some good investigators that we’re teaching, but unfortunately, they all live pretty far away, so we’re constantly buying more bus tickets and spending our time traveling.
We’re teaching a woman name Josangela. She’s really cool. The second she started reading the Book of Mormon, she told us that she knew it’s a true book. She’s been to church with us, too. As we’ve talked about baptism, she thinks that she needs to read the whole book of Mormon and know everything about the church before she can be baptized. We’re trying to explain to her that if the book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith had to be a true prophet and that means that we have a prophet here on earth today, but I don’t think she understands. But it’s really good teaching her. She loves talking to us and every morning she sends us messages saying, “how are you guys doing?” and we have a lot of lessons with her. Every time we talk to her, she also ends up talking about things out of nowhere. The first time we were there, in the middle of our conversation, she suddenly broke into prayer, pointing to the sky and talking to God. It was really different for me.
Well, gotta go. See you all soon!
