Happy New Year!!!!

Hey everyone, hope y'all had a great New Years, and you are starting off the new year amazing! 


This week was pretty wild here in Congonhas, we started out our week in Lafaiete, which is the closest bigger city here, and it's where we go every pday to hang out with the other Elders. On Tuesday we did a secret Santa with our district, which was hype! I got these dart guns which are dope! 


Then I did an exchange with one of the assistants, his name is Elder Richardson. When I was back in Petrópolis he was my zone leader, so it was pretty sick to see him again. 


When our week finally settled down a little bit it was New Years Eve. We started out the day with 15 visits marked, but slowly, one after another, they all said that today wouldn't work. But as we were going to one house, we walked past this bar, and there were a ton of people with handheld fireworks. As we were walking past these dudes they pointed the firework in the air right next to us. When it lit on fire it didn't go forward, it went backward, and hit my comp in the shoulder, and exploded right on the ground next to us. I thought for sure I blew out my eardrums, it was the loudest noise I've heard in my life. But luckily after a few minutes, we were fine. 


On a positive note, we are teaching this girl named Thaissa, she's awesome! And her desire to know more about Christ is inspiring. She lives with her dad and grandma, neither of which are interested in our messages, and have no desire to go to church, but she always wants us to come back and help her learn more about God. She really wants to go to church but it's hard for her because she's only 10, and no one will  go with her. We're trying to help her with that! So everyone please pray for her! 


And we are starting up an English class!!!

Hey everyone, sorry it's been a little while since the last time I wrote. It's been a crazy few weeks.  So I'm here in my new area still São João Del-Rei, I've been assigned to this area for 3 weeks now, but only have been here physically for 2. The first week was super hectic, but the past two weeks have been amazing! Last week after finding a member that's been inactive for a little while, he led us to a few teens that have already been to church a few times! They are super super cool, they love the gospel and going to church! We had them on date to get baptized for this past Sunday, but sadly their mom doesn't feel like they're old enough to make the decision on their own, yet. So we're trying to help the whole family now see the truthfulness of the gospel!  Also, we found this other guy, he was a referral through other missionaries, we've met with him only a few times because his life is super busy. E aí cachorro, como vai. What's up everyone!!! this week has been pretyy wild, let me explain... Tuesday (dia de cavalo)- every Tuesday we get home late in the day because we have to travel 2 hours from where our district meets for district meeting, so it's never a full day of missionary work. However, this Tuesday we got home especially late, at 1:00 and had to wait until 3 to eat lunch, so when we were finally ready to work it was already almost 5, a lot later than usual!! So all we did was a ton of street contacts.  We wanted to get to know an area of our city that we haven't seen yet, so we went for a walk on the freeway (you read that right, the FREEWAY!), which surprisingly had a bunch of people walking on it.
